DSM Hosts Student Tour of Factory

Dynamic Source Manufacturing (DSM) is pleased to announce that students from the University of Calgary’s Manufacturing Engineering program visited our facility last week. Organized in conjunction with the local American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) chapter, this program helps bridge the worlds of engineering education and advanced manufacturing. The tour was part of the program’s initiative to encourage engineering students to relate their studies to real products, methods, and designs.

Our team toured the students through our facility, production process, staff roles, and regulations. With their grounded ESD heel straps and smocks on, we introduced them to our world of modern manufacturing and digital transformation. Through initiatives like this, DSM aims to help build the pipeline of STEM professionals and better prepare students for careers in engineering.

By providing real-life context for their coursework, the goal was to stimulate student interest in the diversity of areas in manufacturing. Creating opportunities for students to have direct contact with technologists, engineers, and managers working in our plant helps to foster a more interconnected environment. We also believe that this helps to provide a richer background for future engineers for how the electronics manufacturing industry impacts technology today.

DSM is honored to support the exposure of electronics manufacturing to our future engineers and technologists. Big thanks to UCalgary’s AIAA program for visiting our facility and making us part of your learning journey!
