- We are seeking a Manufacturing Cost Accountant for our Calgary manufacturing facility. The sucessful canadiate will be responsible for providing cost accounting support to the finance, production, engineering, and procurement groups. This position ensures data integrity of the plant’s operational and financial reporting in accordance with established corporate standards and requirements. This individual works well in a self-direct capacity and is driven to improve costs and processes.

- This is a full time position, working 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday). This position qualifies for a hybrid work model by integrating Work from Home and On-Site hours. Flex hours are permitted, as we trust our employees to get their job done and manage their own schedules and working hours accordingly.
- Develop and implement project plans for labour costing down to job order level
- Calculate (annual basis) and review (quarterly basis) loaded labour and material overhead rates
- Perform variance analysis of quoted labour, materials, and overhead costs to actual costs, identifying issues and providing sound business solutions in a concise manner
- Provide weekly product and performance weekly reports – actual vs quoted
- Report and review variances related to finished goods, raw materials and WIP
- Work with procurement to maintain a monthly Purchase Price Variance (PPV) log and establish a capitalized PPV variance
- Ensure accurate and complete reporting of month end physical counts
- Reconcile raw material, WIP and finished goods inventory levels and labour estimates
- Perform analysis of inventory, production and sales levels, and reports on significant cost/volume changes
- Report deficiencies and making recommendations to department processes
- Perform month end duties including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and monthly COGS and inventory summaries
- Complete adhoc projects as assigned, including internal controls and external reviews
- Maintain approved corporate standard internal reporting requirements in the plant to ensure accurate information of the plant’s performance
- Diploma/Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3 – 5 years of cost accounting experience within a fast paced environment, preferably manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting, budgeting and financial analysis
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Expert proficiency with Excel (Pivot Tables & VLOOKUP’s)
- Experience working within an ERP system (Made2Manage-Aptean considered is an asset)
