THE OPPORTUNITY:

• The Automation Technologist position provides opportunities to learn DSM’s current technologies and processes with the aim of being able to identify, execute and support automation solutions. This individual will have a passion for technology, possess excellent communication skills, works well in a self-directed capacity and has experience with PLC, HMI and related programming tools.

RESPONSIBILITES:

• Surface Mount Technology (SMT) setup, operation and maintenance of SMT equipment and related processes
• Design and ordering of tooling and fixtures to support manufacturing processes
• Provide training to manufacturing staff to enhance process knowledge
• Understand and apply IPC and J-STD requirements to all areas of manufacturing
• Facilitate and support project implementation through cross functional teams
• Oversee/support machinery installations to ensure functionality
• Utilize DSM’s Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure process and product conformity
• Learn and propose new technologies to improve current manufacturing processes
• Manage full-cycle projects – develop, plan, organize, implement and support automation solutions
• System programming, debugging and testing
• Complete documentation throughout projects including proposal writing, feasibility reports, methodologies and presentations

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related discipline
• Relevant work experience is an advantage, but not a requirement
• Experienced with some or all of the following programming tools – PLC, HMI, C/C++, HTML, .NET, SQL Server
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Available for shift work
